Chinese ES8 competes comfortably with TESLA's Model X

Model X is not a sexy name for a car. Besides that China (NIO) has come up with an electric SUV which is just 50% of Model X. The model is called ES8, also not very attractive.

ES8 looks OK just looking at a picture on a web page. The cheaper price is due to a mega subsidy.
This is what NIO founder William Li said,
"
"Maybe Tesla will sell less...after our product is out. Or probably, because the whole market is growing, they will still maintain growth in sales. It's hard to say."
Here are images of ES8 from an MSN site.

@travel: You do not need to buy TESLA in India, MahindraReva's e02 will do

MahindraReva has entered second generation with e02 all electric cars that use lithium-ion batteries. The first generation car had lead acid battery. Here is a picture of the lead acid battery car of my neighbour who is quite satisfied with its performance. He seems to get 80Km with a single charge. I asked him what if the car stops in the middle due to battery (which lost its charge) and he smiled and said he calculates where he is going and he has no problem. He has been using it for a couple of years.

e02 is second generation with two models one basic(T0) and one premium(T2) both 4 seater cars and and the base starts at 4.82 lakhs and premium at 6.82 lakhs.e20 site is here:

Here is a picture from Mahindra's site.I have seen a couple of them running the city (Bengaluru). You can get 120Km out of a single charge. It is sold in many Indian cities, Bhutan and Bermuda (Island car).

e02 comes in 6 different colors: Spanish Red, Arctic Silver; Eco Green; sunfire yellow; coral blue and Oceanic white.

I think this is perfect for Honolulu, Hawaiian Islands and the smaller US cities.

There are both free and paid charging stations are available in many cities and Bengaluru has some 98 stations. The owners will have their own charging setups. While it takes 5 hours for full charging at your home set up(15a/220V), it can be charged in about an hour using it's Quick2Charge technology. The battery lasts for 50000 Kms and can be leased.

Full specifications are available here:

1 lakh is 100,000
US $1 = 63.5 Rs
1 Km = 0.6214 miles

Toyota's hydrogen powered car coming to California summer 2015

Do not buy gas! Toyota's hydrogen powered car coming to California summer 2015.

Not long ago some one from the all electrical vehicle technology quipped playing on the word 'fuel cell' that Toyota is pursuing a foolish path in its development of hydrogen powered car.

No one in the right mind would gamble with $165 million and that is what Toyota is using to triple its domestic production capacity for Mirai (appropriately named meaning 'the Future') Fuel cell vehicle. Both corporations and government are interested. Frankly who wouldn't be except Elon Musk.

Toyota will ramp up the production at its Aichi factory. I have visited them, they are bunch of serious guys, don't you carried away by their apparent lack of emotion. They are deadly serious.

Mirai is coming to a distributor near you by Dec 15 assuming you are localized in Japan. Right now the capacity is only 700 vehicles according to this Nikkei news and of course they cannot promise on delivery time.

It is coming to 'Califoooornia' in the summer of 2015. I love to see this 'sumo fight' between Hydrogen and Battery. It expects to sell 3000 in 2017.

Honda will not be left far behind followed by Hyundai, Kia and others.

Guys the storm is gathering!
