Visit and enjoy the 14th Sumie Exhibition at City Hall in Honolulu

It is a must see exhibition. Sumi-e is the simple but sublime Japanese art form. With very few simple strokes, you have the whole story; snow falling; gentle rains on the mountain tops; mischievous monkeys; and if you listen closely, you may even hear the Uguisu (bush warbler).

The Sumie Society of Hawaii is hosting the 14th Exhibition of the works performed by the Sumie enthusiasts under the expert guidance of Sachie Saigusa, a dedicated Sumie Teacher.

The exhibition opened today and it was blessed by a priest from Honolulu temple after reciting from holy scriptures. Well, here is a video you may want to check out.

Mayor Caldwell of Honolulu graced the occasion and joined in the group photo of the  Sumie Society of Hawaii.

Here are some of the exhibits. These are unedited and, unfortunately some of the ambient light and stray reflections could not be avoided. Since the photos were taken during the exhibits were in the process of being set up, there could be some omissions.
